We spoke with Gemma Mitchell about her love of cycling, endurance sports, and Orro

Please briefly introduce yourself

My name is Gemma Mitchell; I currently race for Team Boompods and work for Merlin Cycles.

How many years have you been cycling?

I've been cycling since my late 20’s when I started triathlon but my first ever race was back in 2014! It’s late to get into cycling but here we are ☺️I remember getting dropped at this crit, I just wasn’t used to the ‘surges’ but held the bunch at half a lap for the rest of the race. I have learnt a LOT since then! So I’d say proper cycling for 10 years.

What are your cycling accomplishments?

I am reigning National champion across multiple disciplines, Masters crit champ in 2022 and 2023, v40 closed circuit Time Trial champion, V40 National Hill Climb Champion, v40 Monsal head hill climb champion and 2nd National Masters Road Race for the last 4 years!

Which Orro bike (or bikes) do you use and why?

I love my Orro Venturi STC signature which has been my race bike of choice for this and last season. This is by far the best bike I have ever had. I’d like to have a go on one of the time trial set ups for the closed-circuit TT champs this year though

What stands out to you about Orro bikes?

They're light, responsive, aerodynamic, and FAST! Plus, they are pretty beautiful to look at too.

What is your favourite British bike ride or trail?

I love a good ride in the Lake District, the mountains, fells and lakes are just stunning, and my Venturi handles any terrain with ease.

Do you have any tips for cycling enthusiasts?

My best advice is to just enjoy riding your bike, ride with friends and enjoy being outdoors, taking in the views with a big smile on your face.
