Shimano Mechanical 12-Speed Groupset launch

Known industry-wide for their relentless innovation as originators of gravel-specific componentry, Shimano has been pushing the boundaries of what gravel bikes can do with their designs.

And now, with the introduction of Shimano GRX RX820 12-speed mechanical components, Shimano continues its legacy of innovation. Rooted in simplicity, reliability, and adventure, the brand new 12-speed GRX lineup delivers even more gearing options and control, paired with unrivalled ergonomics, so riders get the most out of each off-road adventure, wherever that might be.

Riders looking for top-tier performance will be thrilled with the Shimano mechanical GRX. The new 12-speed upgrade delivers professional performance without the hefty price tag. Shimano keeps riders in mind when creating their designs, striving to increase rider experience. As gravel is all about personal expression and freedom to choose how and where to ride, Shimano GRX includes three unique 12-speed mechanical drivetrain personalities to cover the full spectrum of riders and rides. You will find your perfect fit with the all new 12-speed mechanical GRX.

Shimano 105 12 Speed

Shimano's latest 105 groupset has been upgraded to 12 speed, as seen on our Orro Venturi STC 105 Di2 Road Bike. Shimano has mastered the art of mechanical shifting and has put all that knowledge into this premium 12 speed groupset. Shifts like a dream time and time again. This groupset has seen some improved ergonomics with more comfortable and grip-friendly levers, specifically designed to fit any hand, with a reduced handlebar to lever distance for more efficient braking.

UNBEATABLE - SHIMANO GRX 1X12 WITH 10-45T

If you love pushing past your personal bests or giving it your all at the end of the race, you will appreciate the care put into the RX820 1x12 UNBEATABLE setup with a 10-45 cassette paired with a 40 or 42-tooth chainring. Bringing the smooth, reliable shifting and now a wider range and extra cog, riders will find it even easier to seek out the optimal cadence for maintaining their position in the pack.

SHIMANO GRX RX610

Created with the more budget-conscious consumer in mind, the Shimano GRX RX610 allows for a wider price range on complete gravel bikes. Shimano has updated its 600-series cranks and shift levers for 1x12 and 2x12 setups that utilise trickle-down technology from the original 800 series GRX component line. Top features include:

  • Textured hoods and anti-slip brake lever coating that bolsters control on rugged terrain
  • New cranksets offer gearing options that specifically cater to the demands of gravel riding
  • The RX610 2x12 crank features 46/30 chainrings and is available in 165mm, 170mm, 172.5mm and 175mm crank arm lengths.

UNDROPPABLE - Shimano GRX 2x12

For riders seeking the best of both worlds, the new 2x12 RX820 UNDROPPABLE drivetrain utilises gravel-optimised 48/31T front chainrings paired with an 11-34T or 11-36T cassette. This setup delivers an ultra-wide gear range for spinning a comfortable cadence when cruising the flats, smashing endless dirt road rollers, or tackling a massive backcountry climb.

Updated ergonomics and brakes

GRX’s ergonomic distinctiveness continues with its redesigned shift/brake levers. Adding 12-speed shifting without any additional lever bulk, the RX820 series shifters are designed for all-day comfort when using flared drop bars–a gravel cycling staple. By reducing pressure points and increasing surface area, your hands will feel less fatigued, and you’ll be better in control as you test your limits.

The new GRX shift/brake levers offer light and responsive mechanical 12-speed shifting. While the left lever of the UNDROPPABLE 2x12 GRX group delivers Shimano's unrivalled smooth front shifting, the new1x12 groups carry over functions for the left lever first introduced with the original GRX: a brake lever-only model and a dropper-specific option that seamlessly integrates braking and dropper post actuation.
